French toast is a staple for a comforting breakfast, and with this gluten free French Toast recipe using our refined sugar-free bread, you can enjoy it guilt-free! Surprisingly, the name "French toast" came from a grammar mistake by Joseph French in 1724, but the recipe dates back to ancient Rome. Our version uses our Cinnamon Bread, is dairy-free and naturally sweetened—perfect with fresh berries and maple syrup for a wholesome twist on a classic favorite!

Traditionally, French toast uses white bread dipped in an egg mixture, and is then fried up with some oil. Toppings include anything from honey, to syrup, to fruits, and more. A warm delicious treat, but like all things sweet and gluten-loaded, it can leave you feeling bloated. Not to mention all that sweetness sending your blood sugar through the roof. Not the best way to begin your day.

For breakfast, we should be having something more balanced. Something that will set your day up for success. Thankfully, I am here to bring you a French toast recipe that uses clean ingredients. Each serving of our cinnamon bread has only 4 grams of carbs, plus it is loaded with protein and fiber. Hale and hearty, this healthy version of French toast will ensure you feel more balanced and energized, eliminating the awful feeling you might get after a carb heavy breakfast. Now isn’t that a better way to start your day?

 

Instructions:

  1. Combine the egg, almond milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl. Whisk together.

  2. Dip the cinnamon bread into the egg mixture, a few seconds per side, until well-coated. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook bread slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned.

  3. Top with coconut yoghurt and drizzle some maple syrup. Then add your fresh berries. We used blackberries and raspberries, but you can use any fruit combination that pleases you!
