Homemade Croutons

One of my favorite things to eat are salads. I like that they are light, full of nutrition, easy to make and I get plenty of plants in one sitting - and if they are done right you are also full for quite a few hours.

Did you know that in Europe when you order a salad you almost always get bread with it. I kind of felt betrayed when I came to the USA and they didn't serve bread with salads, because the bread definitely helps you feel full longer.

But this is where the croutons come in. I feel like they are a guaranteed upgrade to every salad, especially when made with our high fiber, gluten free, low-carb bread. Most often when you find croutons in your salads, they are made from very low quality bread, that has zero nutritional value, but here we are loading on extra nutrition onto your salads.

Preheat your oven to 275F convection setting. Start by cutting your bread into 1/2 inch cubes. Toss your bread with some EVOO or Avocado Oil and spices. Great combos we have tried are garlic and salt, Italian herbs and salt, Coconut Sugar and Cinnamon (you can snack on these or eat like cereal). Spread your croutons onto a baking sheet, giving them a little space in between each piece for better airflow. Now bake your croutons for 90-120 mins until crunchy. I'm sure you could achieve great results in an air fryer if you have one as well, but I have not tried this.

Store your croutons in an air tight container for up to 7 days and use as needed.
